The Premier Deli at the corner of Washington St and East Berkeley, in the shadow of Dover Street Station, Boston. This was a really popular deli in its day; the Premier was always busy, had a classic interior, and served great food. The original print wasn't very good, so I enhanced it to bring out more detail. No print is safe, now that I've discovered this technique!
Is that considered an 'Art Deco' exterior? I'll answer my own question: yes (just guessing). What do you think?

Somehow I like that one-way road sign. personal preference ;)
It is fun to experiment and it looks good so why not? I believe you are right - it does look like Art Deco. So how was the deli? A large hot pastrami with lots of mustard please.
I think so. :)
And I really like the comic book appearance you give your old photos. It'd be wonderful to make a sequential with some of them if you could find a series of photos taken the same day in the same area. I know, I know... ;D
Doreen: Me too! Seriously. By looking at some of the photos you take, I can see that you like signs in general.
Isadora: Thank you, I was soliciting the "looks good" compliment, lol. The deli was great! I don't eat Hot Pastrami anymore, but I loved it when I did!
Fenix: Thank you. If anyone would know what style that is, it's you!
"Comic Book" style! That's fantastic, I was trying to put a phrase to what I was doing. It is funny that you mention putting together a series like that - I was out taking pictures this morning and I've just been going through them, converting everyone one of them to the Comic Book Style - I love it, they look so unique. Back "then" I was one dimensional and not very organized, I'd shoot a roll of film on something like the Dover Street Station, then develop 'whenever' and think, "Oh yeah, I remember that day!" LOL
I know, I'm writing a book for a comment!
I like the way you played with this. I remember how long a process I would have to go through in art class or the darkroom for an effect like this. It works on this image.
Very art deco-ish indeed! Or at least it looked similar to what I saw in Miami.
Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and for leaving your comments. 2 days left in February! Enjoy.

Oh the Premier!!! I grew up in the South End and when I was a really little girl my Dad took me there and I could have sworn that the baloney sandwiches were 6 inches thick. Plus I used to love the icy cold cokes with chipped ice, and the pickle spears.... ahhh everything tastes so much better in retrospect.
Thanks for posting that picture!
