Trio On A Trike

Taken in 1951 at the intersection of Warren Ave and Clarendon St, in the South End of Boston, Mass. (Facing east) There aren't any cars in the photo! The loading dock doors upper left were for the Cyclorama building, which was the Wholesale Flower Market at the time, and is now the Boston Center For The Performing Arts. The sign on the building, upper right, said something like: S.S. Pennock, Wholesale Florist Supplies. [Click To Enlarge]

(See Google street view of what this intersection looks like today here.)

Wow! Indeed this district had change A LOT (in a nicer way). I love this old picture with these cute boys on their tricycle. It's kind of nostalgic. The "then and now" photos are really interesting and fun to watch. Thanks.

No idea who those cute kiddos are? Strong bike! I doubt they could do the same today... Google messed up your link (it shows Chandler and Cazenove); here's the actual intersection - it looks completely different. We are so used to seeing lovely trees all over the city now...

Great old picture. Cities, like people do change. I took a tour of the State House the other day and the docent mentioned that during WWII the State House dome was painted gray (I knew that) because it could be seen from the harbor (I didn't know that) since many of the buildings now blocking that view were not there; and enemy submarines had been spotted in the area.

Dorothee: The difference is amazing! I'm glad you're enjoying the then and now, and that you think those kids are cute, lol.

Fenix: I'll tell you the secret about the kiddos some day, lol. What's up with Google? I checked the link after I posted and it was fine, and even now when I scrolled over it, it did say clarendon & warren. I replaced the link with the one you provided, thank you! Actually, I have a couple of pictures that show there were trees on the west side from Warren down to Dartmouth then, and maybe beyond.

Clueless: I didn't know any of that - thank you!

Fenix: ** make that the west side of Warren, from Clarendon down to Dartmouth.

And ... did you see the gun?

In France when you get 50% answers right, you can still pass and go up into the next class :-)
